Ready - Building a mental health AI app

I was asked by #1 NYT Bestselling Author Yung Pueblo to lead content design and end-to-end UX copy for his EQ-forward dating and relationship app, Ready

This involved close collaboration with design, product and engineering to ensure all content design and copy was clear, concise and intuitive, from account creation and profile setup to the app’s connect and reflect features.

What I did: UX writing, copywriting, content strategy

Approach

Using research and feedback compiled from Ready’s beta launch, I was able to understand how users talked about the product. In addition, I went through the onboarding, matching and chatting flows of dating app competitors to get a sense of what verbiage was used and where, as well as which concepts were universally used and understood within this landscape. In both cases, I noted the words being used so I could incorporate them into Ready’s UX copy.

When I was ready to write, I used these learnings to work directly with design and inform Ready’s content strategy, design and copy, all working together to ensure ease of use, engagement and brand equity were present at every touchpoint.

The app’s core value proposition – and how it’s differentiated from competitors – is the connection between self-reflection and matching. It was important to convey the value of self-reflection as an end in itself, but as a means for the user to match with other users.

Additionally, my goal was to improve the UX by making the connection process intuitive, engaging and effective in order to increase user satisfaction and boost user retention.
